Welcome to Sew in the Snow Blog

This blog is about my passions in life: family, quilting, and new adventures. Quilting is my main passion! I also love my family tirelessly and devote most of my energy to my young preschool girls and my husband. This blog will be about my creative process in quilting and some about being a Mom in this busy world. Being of Irish descent, I love a good story. So buckle in, here we go!

Friday Featured Artist: Lone Alaskan Gypsy

Today I'm going to do something a little different for my Friday Featured Artist.  I'm going to review an item from a shop instead of an interview.  The special treat for you--- you get a chance to win this precious item!  I'm having a giveaway!  So, who is this generous Featured Artist that donated a handmade treasure for you?  The Lone Alaskan Gypsy.  I love that name!

So, what do we know about this mysterious artist?  I think she says it best in her profile on Etsy.  "I am a nature loving bohemian free spirit. My heart is that of a hippy, but I have an ancient Native American's soul. I am very in tune with my spiritual side and have a great fondness for this mother earth and all she holds dear to her heart. All of my work is inspired by nature."

Dawn has many gorgeous products in her shop.  They range from a super-cute woodland creature headband (I want one!) to feather hair clip accessories and fur cuffs.  The free spirit will have a joyous journey while browsing through her shop.

Dawn's shop is an eclectic treasure trove.  As she states in her profile,
"I enjoy... absolutely any craft project."  This shows in her fun creations.  It all is made with loving care to create the best possible product for our enjoyment.  What a fun shop to visit!

Today I have the honor of reviewing a splendid Alaskan fox fur cuff handmade by Dawn.  It is gorgeous!  It is so soft, you'll want to stroke it.  I sure did!  It measures about 7" from fur tip-to-tip (since the fur moves this isn't an exact measurement).  The firm bracelet interior measures about 2.5" and will fit most people.   I tried it on... it looks great on me.  Too bad I can't win it.  LOL.

Shadowed Timber Fur
This fur accessory will add some flair to any outfit from a sweater to an elegant dress.  It is sure to get compliments as you go out on the town.  The fur is soft and supple.  It has no scent on it, which is great!  The fur has obviously been cured properly to produce the finest quality possible.  (Note: her husband traps these furs in an ethical manner.)

The coloring of this lovely fur cuff is simply stunning.  The outer red fur is accented by blonde highlights (I'm jealous!) that make it really sparkle in the light.  The short and luxuriously soft inner grey fur is from the undercoat of the fox.  It shows through the red and adds another element of complexity to the fur cuff.  As the fur gently swirls around your wrist you may see either the red-orange of the outer fur or the soft grey of the inner fur.  This reveals the true artistry of the piece.

So, now you're asking yourself, how can I win this?!  This giveaway contest will run for two weeks.  The giveaway will be on St. Patrick's Day!  For this giveaway you need to tell one other person about this blog and you need to comment.  If your friend wants a chance to win, she will also have to pass on the blog link.  It's like one of those charming friendship chain letters that keeps growing. When you get an email, or snail mail, chain letter do you pass it on?  Honestly, I usually don't, but if there's treasure involved I definitely do!

I want the everyone to have a chance to win this luxurious fur cuff!  So share the love!  I hope to hear from you!
